F A Q’s

How long in advance should I book my shoot?

We can almost always accept late bookings (within a week) — but we can’t guarantee it. We recommend booking your appointment at least three weeks in advance.

Are hair and make up available for my photo session?

Yes!  This really is a must.  We want you to feel pampered and walking away feeling like a million bucks.

What is your return policy?

We will return your session fee IN FULL if you cancel within 5 days of BOOKING your appointment. After that, we’ll return 50% of your session fee if you cancel within 10 days or less of your scheduled session. We certainly understand that life can sometimes get in the way of appointments, so if some compelling event prevents you from making your session (illness, family issues, car trouble, etc.), you can reschedule without charge ONE time. If you reschedule more than once, there is an additional $50 fee.

Where will my shoot take place?

Currently our studio is a home studio in Colorado Springs, while our new studio is scheduled to open early fall. It’s a comfortable space with a number of backdrops and props, allowing us to customize the setting to fit you best. You can choose an offsite location instead, there’s an additional fee of $50. If you’re interested in hosting a party or boudoir session in another city, please inquire about travel rates. We’re happy to accommodate these requests, but the details will have to be worked out well in advance.

Should I practice?

We recommend practicing different angles in the mirror to get a feel for what makes you look and feel the best. Either way, Sun will give you tips and pointers throughout the shoot.

Do you provide outfits for my shoot?

We are currently working on THE CLOSET and will be ready with the opening of the studio. We’re happy to help you select outfits that will work well with your look and the background you choose. If you’re having trouble finding the right outfit for your shoot and need something new but aren’t sure where to shop, let us know! We’ll gladly send you a list of some favorite lingerie stores.

How many outfits can I bring?

We shoot one outfit per set (variations welcome), with packages ranging from one to five sets.  You are welcome to bring more outfits than you’ll be shooting in, and we will consult about your wardrobe and set selection before we get started.

What if I have no idea how to pose

I don’t expect you to!  That’s what I am here for, to coach you through the whole process!  I know how to use lighting and posing to their best effects to flatter any body type. If you want to practice your expressions in the mirror (yes, I know it will feel silly!), that may help you feel more comfortable the day of the shoot, but I will be there to guide you with your poses and expressions.  Sometimes in preparing for their sessions, girls look at a LOT of different images thinking about what poses they want and they bring some pics with them to show me.  You are welcome to do that.  We won’t exactly copy someone else’s image, but we can certainly draw inspiration from the pose or the mood of the shot and apply it to yours.

How much skin is expected to show? What style of boudoir shots do you take?

This is entirely up to you. You have full control over how much you do (or do not) show off in your boudoir shoot. We offer a number of different photography styles — your shots can take their look from a men’s magazine (anything from Maxim to Playboy) or a Victoria’s Secret catalog, with a lot less skin showing. We also offer pin-up style photography, reminiscent of the 1950s. Whatever style you choose, you can be as provocative or modest as you like. This is all about making you comfortable, and happy with the end result!

Do you shoot women of all ages? ( even those of us who aren’t 20 yr old models ?)

Whether you’re 20 or 60, we can bring out your inner siren and make you look HOT. Sun will work with you step-by-step, helping you strike the right poses, showing you how to look at the camera and where to put your hands, etc. to get the perfect look.

How many people will be present for my shoot?

Your privacy is ALWAYS respected, and that includes before, during and after your boudoir shoot. Normally it will be the hair/make up stylist and Sun.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! In many cases, bringing a friend along is a great way to loosen up and have some fun. But be warned: Some women find that they feel LESS comfortable with other people watching, even close friends. So try to think objectively about how it would really make you feel before extending the invitation.

Will my photos be retouched to hide my imperfections like stretch marks and blemishes?

Yes! We’ll start by posing you properly to hide anything you don’t want to show, and our magazine-quality lighting will also help hide any wrinkles, blemishes, spots or bruises from the camera. Anything that does get through can be addressed with Photoshop later. With that process, we’ll smooth your skin, remove stray hairs and help you lose a digital pound or two. We can also make colors pop, perfect your makeup, etc. We won’t overdo it, though — the goal is to bring out the beauty that’s already there and keep you looking natural and fresh.

Can I bring music to play?

Of course you can!  We always play music during our sessions – it makes it so much more fun.  When you book a session with Rue Boudoir, you will receive a questionnaire that includes a place to indicate your favorite sexy tunes.  Laura creates a custom playlist for each client to make sure that you can get into the groove to the music you love!  Or you can always bring your own iPod to plug in.  :)

How long will it take to see my photos?

Same day viewing is available and ready to view an hour after the shoot.  These images are not retouched, at this time you have the option to pick and chose which images you want retouched

How long after the shoot will I be able to order my photos?

Once you have your gallery, you have 5 days to pick out your favorites. All large albums include the retouched gallery on CD for computer use.

Once I place my order, how long will it take to receive my products?

Because Sun does all digital retouching personally, it can take up to two weeks for prints to be made ready for production. It takes another week or so for the lab to print your order and ship it back to us, and some of our custom products can take up to two weeks. If you need them sooner, we can place a rush order on the Ooh la la Album or Red Hot book for an additional $60. If a rush is placed you can receive your product within 7 days or less; these can arrive as soon as three days.

What kinds of printing options are available for my photos?

We offer a number of options to best present your boudoir experience, including canvas art, high-end magazine formats, Ooh la la Album, Red Hot book, deluxe custom albums and a la carte prints. We’ll discuss all of the options with you at the time of your appointment.

I don’t want my photos to end up online, will you post these on your website or social media?

Your privacy is VERY important to us. We will never use your images online or in any other forum unless you have read and signed a model release. You can pick and choose the ones you want to keep private, or just keep them all to yourself. It is totally up to you. We do take a before and after headshot that we do share online.

What if I need my prints sooner than the two-week turnaround?

We do offer rush products for the last-minute gift, but the options are limited. You can always receive prints, magazines and Ooh la la Album within a week (other products take up to 2 weeks) but if you’re in a pinch, teaser galleries/images can be finished within 24 hours for an additional fee.

Once I have my CD, will I be able to publish my photos wherever I want?

We ask that you talk with us before placing your photos on social media sites or the web. We strive to provide you with an excellent product, and want to be sure that any photos associated with our business are posted with that same commitment to quality in mind.
